Built by a coach who couldn't find the tools he needed
Ball Hog Gloves started with a simple problem: Coach Koran Godwin had spent two decades developing players — guards, scorers, kids chasing scholarships — and kept running into the same wall. Players wanted to improve their ball handling and shooting mechanics, but the training tools on the market were generic. Built for "athletes" in general, not basketball players specifically.
So he built his own.
The first Ball Hog Gloves were tested in gyms, on the same players Coach Godwin was coaching toward $25M+ in athletic scholarships over the years. If a tool didn't hold up under real drills with real players trying to make real teams, it didn't make the cut.
What we make
Every product on this site exists to fix one specific weakness in a player's game:
- Ball Hog Gloves (Weighted & Unweighted) — build grip strength, hand speed, and ball control by taking away a player's natural feel for the ball
- Off Hand & Off Palm Shooting Aids — correct the two most common shooting flaws Coach Godwin has seen in 20+ years of coaching: an overactive guide hand and palm shooting
- Bump Pads & D-Cones — bring game-speed contact and agility into solo training sessions
- The GODWIN Springfield 1891 Basketball — a premium indoor game ball built for players who train like the level they're chasing
We're not trying to be a general sporting goods store. Everything we sell is built for one sport, tested by one coach, and designed to solve the exact problems that come up in real practice gyms.
Who it's for
Youth to Pro players that want to get better. Coaches who want proven basketball training equipment for team workouts. And anyone who's serious enough about the game to put in the work when nobody's watching.
The people behind it
Ball Hog Gloves is founded and run by Coach Koran Godwin — University of North Florida Hall of Famer, and trainer who's helped players earn more than $25 million in college athletic scholarships. You can read his full story on our Meet Coach Godwin page.
Ball Hog Gloves also connects to JumpStart Hoops, Coach Godwin's skills training program founded in 2006, and Sports Capital Management Group, his NIL representation firm — both built on the same philosophy: give players the tools, the training, and the support to actually reach the level they're working toward.
Our approach
We lead with faith, and we lead with work. #God1st #WorkUntil isn't a marketing line — it's how every product gets built and how every player who uses our gear is expected to train. No shortcuts. No gimmicks. Just tools that force the right technique until it becomes muscle memory.
